We created Inspiring Writers as a non-profit project to encourage children to enjoy writing and share their creativity. Below are some frequently asked questions around our competition and terms and conditions.
General Questions
Who can enter?
- Children aged 5 to 18 years old
- A parent or guardian must approve the submission for anyone under 18 by providing their contact email address.
What can my child submit?
- An original story written by your child
- It must be their own work (not copied or created by someone else)
- Please follow the guidelines for each age category as listed on our website
What happens if they are selected?
Winners will have their story published on our website, in our Hall of Fame.
Shortlisted writers' work may be included in a compiled digital book (ePub format). Parents will have the opportunity to order a physical copy of their child’s published work in exchange for a fee covering printing and shipping costs.
Will my child be paid?
No. This is a free, non-profit competition designed to celebrate creativity. There are no payments or royalties involved; publication, recognition, and the joy of sharing a story are the primary rewards for all participants.
What rights are we giving?
By submitting, you agree we can share the story on our website, in our digital books, and in promotional materials royalty-free and for ongoing use. Your child remains the original author, allowing us to feature their work as part of this community project.
Submission Guidelines
How will my child be named?
Stories will be published using the pen name provided during submission. Real names will not be shared publicly unless you ask us to.
Parental permission
If your child is under 18, you confirm that you agree to these terms and give permission for your child’s work to be submitted and published.
Fair play
We may remove or disqualify entries that are copied or not original, contain inappropriate content, or do not follow the rules.
Privacy
We only collect the information needed to run the competition. Your confidence is our priority.
We do not sell personal data
We take care to protect your child’s privacy and maintain a safe digital environment for young writers.
